Mark McGwire Senate Testimony

Jay McGwire, the brother of former Major League slugger Mark McGwire, is pitching a tell-all book about his brother's steroid use to various publishers.

Jay McGwire is a former bodybuilder who used steroids himself. He claims that brother Mark was inspired to use performance-enhancing drugs after he saw the effect it had on his brother's physique.

The details of the McGwire brothers' steroid use is outlined in the proposal for "The McGwire Family Secret,"which Jay is hoping to get published.

According to the proposal, Jay McGwire bought steroids with a $150,000 insurance settlement from a BB gun accident that took out his eye and turned himself into a 6'3", 320-pound bodybuilder. He says that he later introduced his brother Mark to a steroids dealer, who hooked him up with the drug Deca-Durabolin.

The book seems to corroborate claims made by McGwire's former teammate Jose Canseco, who wrote in his book "Juiced" that he regularly injected McGwire with steroids.

Jay McGwire insists that he is writing the book to help his brother, not to profit off of his tarnished name.

"Mark is a man I think most would like to forgive because his reason wasn’t nefarious—it was for survival. My bringing the truth to surface about Mark is out of love. I want Mark to live in truth to see the light, to come to repentance so he can live in freedom—which is the only way to live. "
