Jayson Williams Drives SUV Into Tree, Faces Possible DUI Charges
Former NBA star Jayson Williams crashed his black Mercedes-Benz SUV into a tree at 3:15 A.M. early Tuesday in Manhattan. Williams has allegedly been hurt in the accident and is suffering from minor injuries to his head. He is in stable condition at New York's Bellevue Hospital, however. It is being reported that the collision was high speed. It is also alleged that Williams could have been driving under influence. Eyewitnesses claim Williams moved from the driver's seat to the passenger' seat before police showed up. Moreover, Williams refused to undergo a sobriety test at the site of the crash, which warrants a criminal charge.
Williams has ill fame from his alleged involvement in the shooting death of a limousine driver in his estate in Alexandria Township, New Jersey in 2002. It was reported that at the time of the incident Williams was playing with a shotgun while giving a tour of his mansion when the weapon fired and killed the driver. Williams was charged for reckless manslaughter as the result. He is to be retried for the incident. Williams is facing 10 years in prison if convicted. Williams had run-ins with the law on many occasions aside from the limousine driver shooting death.
But, does an incident involving SUV crashed into a tree sound familiar? Famous golfer Tiger Woods crashed his 2009 Cadillac Escalade SUV into a tree after a brawl with his wife Elin Nordegren who allegedly chased after Woods with a golf club. Woods's car accident on November 27 jump-started the incredible media hype around Woods's personal life.
