KARATE + The Reality Show

Jeane-Claude Van Damme is bringing the fight into real life in 2010. Jean-Claude Van Damme has announced his intention to fight Somluck Kamsing, a Thai boxer who's competed in the Olympics. Like Van Damme, Somluck Kamsing is a martial artist who has branched into entertainment: aside from action films like Born to Fight (which is a must-see), Somluck Kamsing released a pop album.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, most recently seen in the career-resurrecting JCVD, is a lifelong competitive martial artist who has won karate and full-contact tournaments in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including scoring three knockouts in a single day.

For anyone who shares that appetite, the news that Van Damme, nearly 50, is considering an actual kickboxing fight should be met with some kind of interest -- however morbid it might be.
Challenging a professional Muay Thai fighter... I have a bad feeling about this.

I think Van Damme will get his ass kicked...nothing against him in martial arts, but this isn't a movie.

In fairness, before his movie career Van Damme was a skilled kick boxer. The only real thing against him now is his age.

I think he has nothing to prove to anyone, it's still very interesting to know why does he wanna do that.  He is a little too old but extremely flexible and can kick very hard.  At the same time he is rich and can afford to train with the right people to get prepared for that fight.  I wish you luck jean clude and God be with you.

In all fairness van damme should still stand a good chance without his age taken into consideration, he was a profesional kickboxer with 17 ok's within the first or second round and one loss, all stunts seen in the films kickboxer and bloodsports were actually the matter of getting as close as he possibly could without hitting the other actors.  Thats why he made most of his full contact movies in thailand, not america so there wouldent of been a chance he could of got suid if he was to accidentally hit them.  all the stunts seen in the two movies were the actuall stunt he can do real life nothing is put on or computer animated, it should be a good fight carnt wait to see the fight. go van damme

I hope Jean-Claude Van Damme kicks Somlucks butt. I'm a big fan of JCVD wishing you all the best. Go get him JCVD!
