Britain's hometown hero Jessica Ennis has won the 2012 Olympic Women's Heptathlon, part of a day that will go down in British sporting history.
The Heptathlon consists of seven events:
- 100m hurdles
- High jump
- Shot put,
- 200m ru
- Long jump
- Javelin throw
- 800mrun
Jessica Ennis held a commanding lead going into the 800m: it was basically two victory laps. However, Ennis aimed to break 7,000 points. She was able to finish the Heptathlon with 6,995 points.
Lili Schwarzkopf (GER) took the Silver Medal, and Tatyana Chernova (RUS) took the Bronze.
