Jim Gray Corey Pavin Clash:Tiger Woods Ryder Cup 2010 Team Status
Corey Pavin Says He Was Misquoted By Golf Channel's Jim Gray Re: Tiger Woods Status on Team USA, Ryder Cup 2010 Status
Even when he has nothing to do with it seems Tiger Woods is getting dragged in another controversy.
This time it surrounds exactly what did Ryder Cup captain, Corey Pavin say to Jim Gray of the Golf Channel regarding Tiger Woods status with Team USA, Ryder Cup 2010.
Apparently Jim Gray and Corey Pavin had a locker room conversation regarding Tiger Woods, Pavin reportedly said "...of course I am going to pick him (Tiger) he is the best player in the world."
Corey Pavin as the Captain has the option of selecting a player who did not qualify based on points for the Ryder Cup team. Tiger Woods awful play may well ensure that he does not qualify based on points.
The Jim Gray Corey Pavin controversy continued on Wednesday during a news conference at the PGA.
Pavin claimed Gray misinterpreted his remarks that Tiger Woods was an automatic pick. As the room emptied out, an incensed Gray came up to Pavin, pointed a finger at his chest and said, in a loud voice, 'You're a liar and you're going down."
Pavin called Jim Gray on that statement and the argument continued and was witnessed by the assembled media.
At his news conference, Pavin denied Gray's report but said that Woods was under "considerable consideration" to make the team. Gray said he stands by his story.
"Let's straighten this out right now," Pavin said. "I had a conversation with Jim Gray yesterday just outside the locker room near where we registered, and he asked me a few questions, and his interpretation of what I said is incorrect.
"There's nobody promised any picks. It would be disrespectful to everybody who is trying to make the team," Pavin said.

Oh no, passion in golf? For the last 10 years the only passion in golf was in Tiger's bedroom . . .Sorry, but for me the game is just too civilized.
