Joey Porter, Linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals, Has Been Arrested for An Alleged DUI and for Assaulting an Police Officer

Joey Porter was approached by police officers while driving in a parking lot of a Taco Bell in Bakersfield and a friend of his was stopped by the police according to TMZ. When Joey Porter pulled his car up to see what was going on, a police officer said that he could smell alcohol coming from Porter's car.

When the police asked Porter for his driver license, apparently he refused to hand it to them and tried to roll up his window instead. According to reports, when the officer who was dealing with Porter tried to reach in and unlock his door, Porter slapped the officer's hand in an effort to get him to retrieve his hand from the car.

When the officer went to grab Porter's arm to restrain him, the officer says that Porter got out of the car 'in a confrontational manner.' The officer drew his gun and told Porter to get on the ground but he would not; eventually he put his hands behind his head.

TMZ reports that additional officers were called to the scene to assist and Porter was arrested. He was charged with three misdemeanors (resisting arrest, DUI and an assault on a police officer).

The 11-year veteran recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He also has played for Pittsburgh and Miami.
