The New York Yankees won their 27th World Series last night and many fans watching the game on FOX may have missed the World Series call by Yankees radio announcer John Sterling. The John Sterling World Series call may not go down in history as one of the great calls of all time, but it is memorable.
After the final Phillies out in the top of the 9th, John Sterling said, "Ball game over. World Series over." Then came the memorable part as John Sterling shouted "The Yankees Win!" elongating the word "the" to its breaking point.
It's the kind of thing that need to be heard to be fully appreciated so here's the John Sterling World Series call audio.

Thank you so much for this. I live in South Jersey but I listen to WCBS on my iphone while watching every Yankees game so I heard John's call but was so excited I couldn't soak it all in the first time. The prolonged "the" gives me chills every time I hear it.
