Joseph Young scores 25 points as Houston drops Texas-Pan American
Joseph Young connecting on 7-of-9 three-points and five players score in double figures as the Houston Cougars downed Texas-Pan American, 96-71 in their first game of the New Year.
The win in was their final non-conference game of the season and raised their record to 11-2 and extended their winning streak to six games.
It was their third highest point total for the season.
Young was an offensive machine against the Broncs, scoring 25 points along with sinking 4-of-5 free throws.
The Cougars shot 55% from the floor (34-of-62) and 75% (15-of-20) from the free throw line.
Danuel House scored 12 points and seven rebounds while J.J. Thompson also contributed 12 points.
TaShawn Thomas and Jherrod Stiggers each scored 10 points.
The Cougars pulled down 37 rebounds (14-23).
For Pan American, Aaron Urbanus scored 12 points, with Lauri Toivoene adding 12.
With the loss, the Broncs drop to 7-10 for the season.
The Cougars will begin Conference USA play in six days as the face SMU on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Hofheinz Pavilion.
