Day by day need for the technique of self defense is increasing across India especially for the ladies. Karate is one of the better known Marshal Art form from Japan that has gained much popularity in India. But unfortunately Kolkata and West Bengal was not up to the mark in sending the new faces in these sports.

Some of the very good trainers had left the city well back to see the better future for them else where in the country some to abroad as well. But recent performances of Indians in Asian Games, Commonwealth games and Olympics, have had a great impact on the mind set of the people.

Snihan Premjit Sen, Chief Coach of Kolkata Police for Karate, a 7th Dan Black Belt (Japan) tried a difficult route to make Karate popular sports in West Bengal. A lot of honor and other spirited performance of his students have made West Bengal in farm footing on the Karate World Map. He has almost changed the Karate activity of Kolkata,West Bengal , India from restricted few to rich to rag and vice versa.

12 Jun 2011 last Sunday in one of the Belt Exam Venue at Santgachi, Dum Dum, Kolkata for Abhijit International Karate School beside Nataji Public School, we had a chance to spoke with this one of the legend of the Kolkata. Despite of his busy schedule he gave us the time to share his views and suggestion how Karate can improve one as a person as a sportsman and individual apart from self defense.

Other eminent person present was Ex Olympic Football Captain of India, Arjun Award winner Mr. Prasun Banerjee. He told us that not only football and cricket every one should encourage their kids to play all sorts of games to identify his or her real potential. His advice to young generation was “Play like a sportsman and win the heart of the people”.

Another Coach Sensei Abhijit Ghosh 3rd Dan Black Belt (Japan) showed different Marshal Art pose for the viewers, parents and students. He informed that more than 80 people were appearing for the Belt Exam and 45% was female. This is great information for the state headed by a Lady as Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee.

Age group of the students was 4-18+ years and that displays the how well it has catch the fire to learn Karate in Kolkata. After the Exam prize has been handed over to the desired students and New Belt was conferred for the Future Stars of Karate of India.

We hope more and more people will start this sports and other form of Marshal Art a compulsory training. Many of the ladies works late night in BPOs and other call centers and we often see news like attack on ladies while returning late night which will have a good reason to come down.

Even our present life style of Go FAST Achieve More had an impact on health imbalance in mental and physical aspect. Blood Sugar, Hypertension and others are part of life for every other individual which can be controlled through this Karate.

More and more school of Karate and other sports are required at this moment to get the past glory of Bengal again.

We also get the valuable suggestions of the other dignitaries at the place Mr. Manab Aditya, Director Netaji Public School, Photo Journalist & Representative of Times of India News Paper Mr. Jayanta Bhattacharjee.

Every one has acknowledged the effort of Sensei Abhijit Ghosh as mentor for developing Karate skills among the Kids.

Our hope is that in near future India will have bigger pie in Karate Medals tally in the international arena.
