With all the hoopla about British Royalty Will, Kate, Pippa and the heir to the throne Rory McIlroy nobody has noticed that American Golf Royalty Keegan Bradley is sitting atop the leaderboard at the PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

In 1986 Golf Hall of Fame superstar Pat Bradley won three major championships, including the LPGA and she finished fifth in the other, a hair from winning the Grand Slam. Pat Bradley won the LPGA Championship on June 1, 1986. Pat Bradley is the only woman ever to win three majors in one year.

After the 1986 LPGA victory on June 1, 1986 Pat’s mother Kathleen Bradley stood on the porch of her home in Westford, Mass. and rang her Swiss Cow Bell just as she did after each one of her daughter Pat Bradley’s 31 victories. Caddy Dick Bradley and his wife Kathleen Bradley have a daughter Pat Bradley and a younger son, golf teaching professional Mark Bradley. On June 7, 1986, the sound of the LPGA victory cowbell still ringing, Mark Bradley and his wife celebrated the birth of their son Keegan Bradley who today at age 25 and a rookie on the PGA Tour sits atop the leaderboard at the 93rd PGA Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club, the home course of Bobby Jones.

The former King of Golf Tiger Woods opened the PGA on the back nine 3 under par over the first 5 holes before collapsing into obscurity. Meanwhile Keegan Bradley opened the PGA on Thursday par, bogey, par, double bogey, par. After 5 holes at this year’s PGA Tiger Woods was 6 shots ahead of Keegan Bradley. On Friday night after round two Tiger Woods had duffed himself to a 10 over par missed cut and Keegan Bradley had righted the ship to stand atop the leaderboard at 5 under in a tie with Jason Dufner. Golf Royalty throughout history have been children of caddies and golf teaching professionals, like the King, Arnold Palmer. Keegan Bradley likes to fly under the radar, but given where he is right now on the back stretch of the PGA Keegan Bradley can forget about it. Keegan Bradley is about to become as under the radar as Bruce Jenner.
