Kevin Pearce, an Olympic snowboard hopeful was seriously injured today, just one week before the United States Olympic team qualifying compeitions.
Pearce was training in the half pipe in Park City in Utah when he reportedly hit his head against the side and was knocked unconscious. He was then taken to the University of Utah and doctors performed external ventricular drainage to relieve fluid buildup. They are hoping he regains consciousness soon.
Kevin Pearce is 22-years-old and is one of the best half-pipe competitors in the world. He is one of only few people to beat gold medalist Shaun White in the last few years.
His father, Simon Pearce, is regarded as one of the best glassblowers in the world and owns retail outlets, including one on New York’s Park Avenue.
