The Los Angeles Lakers visited the White House Monday to the meet President Barack Obama. The Lakers, led by captain Kobe Bryant, were congratulated by President Obama. Kobe Bryant presented Obama with a Lakers jersey, and Derek Fisher gave the president an autographed basketball.

Obama, who is an avid basketball fan, seemed to be genuinely happy to see the Lakers. Obama became a Chicago Bulls fan while living in Chicago, and was particularly happy to see coach Lakers head coach Phil Jackson, who led the Bulls to six NBA titles. During the Lakers visit to the White House, Obama imitated Michael Jordan's famous layup against the LA Lakers in the 1991 Finals.

“I still get enormous, enormous pleasure from watching great athletes on the court, and nobody exemplifies excellence in basketball better than the Los Angeles Lakers last year,” Obama said.
