The Los Angeles Marathon 2010 Took Place on Sunday, March 21. The 2010 LA Marathon Was Won By Wesley Korir and Edna Kiplagat

Wesley Korir won the 2010 Los Angeles Marathon, his second consecutive LA Marathon win. Korir, a native of Kenya living in Louisville, Kentucky, finished with a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 19 seconds.

Korir was closely pursued by Kenyans Paul Samoei and Richard Limo, before pulling away at the 25th mile of Los Angeles Marathon route. Limo finished second in 2:09:48 and Samoei third in 2:09:54.

Korir's winning time was the third-fastest time in LA Marathon history. He set the LA Marathon record last year with a time of 2:08:24.

Korir had been honeymooning in Los Angeles after marrying college girlfriend a week ago. He was the first repeat winner since Stephen Ndungo of Kenya in 2001-02.

Edna Kiplagat Fastest Woman at LA Marathon 2010

Edna Kiplagat was the fastest woman at the LA Marathon 2010. Kiplagat finished with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 38 seconds. She broke away from second-place finisher Teyba Naser of Ethiopia at Mile 23 of the LA Marathon.

Kiplagat won a $100,000 gender challenge bonus, awarded to the first man or woman to cross the finish line. The women got a head start of 18 minutes 47 seconds, a time calculated by comparing the average times of top runners of each gender. In the six previous LA Marathon gender challenges, the women have won three times and the men three times.

The LA Marathon took place over the Stadium to the Sea" course that stretched from Dodger Stadium to near the Santa Monica Pier.
