LaMichael James Arrested and Jailed for Domestic Violence Charges

Oregon running back LaMichael James has been arrested in an alleged domestic violence incident. According to Lane County Sheriff website, LaMichael James was arrested on Wednesday at 3 a.m. on charges of strangulation, assault, and menacing.

Springfield police department Sgt. Tom Borchers identified LaMichael James' girlfriend. According to ESPN, the incident occurred at LaMichael James' residence on Monday, and a formal complaint was filed the following day.

"She went to the house to talk to him and during that conversation there was an altercation," Borchers told ESPN.com's Ted Miller. "According to [the alleged victim], he placed his hands on her throat and applied pressure, resulting in a strangulation charge. Also during the altercation she was apparently forced to the ground or knocked to the ground and sustained some abrasions."

LaMichael James remains in jail after the arrest.
