Lane Kiffin Shirts Donated To Haiti: Knoxville Store Gives Back
A sporting good store in Tennessee has managed to merge the two big news stories of the day for a good cause. Many people have asked themselves the question, "How Can I Help Haiti?" The owner of HoundDogs of Knoxville has come up with a unique solution. Dan Burks has said it will donate old Lane Kiffin t-shirts to earthquake victims in Haiti.
Lane Kiffin (not to mention his lovely wife Layla Kiffin) controversially left Tennessee for USC the same day that the Haiti earthquake took place. Many Vols fans took to the streets to voice their anger at Kiffin. Others started burning Lane Kiffin t-shirts in effigy. Dan Burks, the owner of HoundDogs, has suggested that fans shouldn't burn their Lane Kiffin gear. Instead, Burks has offered to give fans a 20 percent discount to anyone who hands in a Lane Kiffin t-shirt. Burks will then take those Kiffin shirts and send them to Haiti.
The merchant - whose accountant just returned from a mission trip to Haiti - said he had seen comments on a chat board from angry fans who were interested in burning shirts. Burks said he felt pretty bad when he went to bed last night, but news of the natural disaster "puts it in perspective for me."
