LeBron James' dunk from the free throw line has become the talk of the NBA. James scored 41 points as his Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Milwaukee Buck 99-93, marking the third time in four game that he has scored 41 points.
King James accounted for nearly half the Cavs points in the win against the Bucks, but all anyone was talking about was LeBron James' free throw line dunk. Well, almost. LBJ had his foot just past the free throw line when he skied up for the dunk. Still, the jam has been one of the highlights of the young NBA season.
Free throw line dunks were once a rarity that occurred only at slam dunk contests.
Julius "Dr. J" Erving was the first to dunk from the free throw line in the 1976 ABA Slam Sunk contest.
Michael Jordan electrified crowds with a free throw line dunk in the
1988 Slam Dunk contest. In those contests, however, players would get a huge running start and didn't have players defending them. James managed to pull off the dunk in the flow of a game, making it all the more impressive.
