Leigh Steinberg, the Sports Agent Who Inspired for Jerry Maguire, Arrested for Putblic Drunkeness
Leigh Steinberg, the high-powered sports agent who was the inspiration behind the lead character in the hit Tom Cruise film Jerry Maguire, was arrested for being drunk in public.
Police arrested the 59-yaer-old agent on October 22 after receiving a report of a man "screaming and attempting to climb a hill" outside Los Angeles. Police reported that when they found him, Steinberg smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred.
Steinberg has struggled with alcohol in the past. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in 1997 and 2007.
Steinberg earned a reputation as one of the biggest agents in sports, representing NFL stars like Troy Aikman, Steve Young, Drew Bledsoe, Matt Leinart, and Ben Roethlisberger. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 8.
