Leron Mitchell Breaks Leg as Riders Lose Grey Cup- Video
Leron Mitchel Leg Break Video
Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back Leron Mitchell broke his leg in an encounter with Alouettes running back Avon Cobourne during the first quarter of the 98th Grey Cup final against the Alouettes. Leron Mitchell had previously broken the same leg in a 2008 game against the B.C. Lions.
Leron Mitchell was helping teammate Barrin Simpson when Cobourne's body hit Mitchell's leg. The video shows the unnatural angle of Leron Mitchell's leg as it breaks.
Roughriders fans were disappointed as their team lost the Grey Cup to Montreal for the second year in a row.: Montreal beat the Riders 21-18.
A few people cried. One man could only mutter, "Two years in a row," as he washed away white face paint little by little each time he wiped the tears from his eyes.
Some people were just satisfied with watching the Riders in another final.
"I'm happy they made it this far," said Brett Smith outside TCU Place after the game. "I'm still proud of them. They're my team. I'll bleed green for life."
