The little engine that could

Somebody, likely Steven A Smith of ESPN said, on the day of the 06 NBA Draft that diminutive Kentucky point-guard Rajon Rondo was not fit for the NBA, too small, not durable and certainly a waste of the twenty-first pick in the NBA draft.

Two seasons later, an NBA championship ring and a sterling performance in a game six series clincher to help the Boston Celtic snap a twenty year championship drought and I find myself wondering if Mr. Smith hasn't at least softened his stance?

Rondo's line (21 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals ) speaks for it self but one number from the 5'9 “170”Lbs micro point-guard, whom many, aside from Mr. Smith were guilty of underestimating stands out above all the rest, zero. Zero turnovers in the final game of a real, live NBA championship series.

Not only did the pint sized 22 year old make it to the NBA, he became a part of Celtic folklore, with a flawless performance in the final and deciding game of 2008 NBA finals.

Follow up:

Just forty-eight hours removed from the afore mentioned flawless performance and subsequent admission into the hearts of Celtic fans everywhere it's great to see that the young monsieur Rondo hasn't missed a beat using his new found fame to capitalize on a diamond mine of endorsements.

This is my first posting via my portable PC and I haven't slept since Tuesday and my Celtic friends aren't likely to relent until September, curse the Sox.

Hope the results aren't to hard to follow, hopefully I'll find a safe cave to crawl into for the next few months, there I can actually get some work done.

Not being a basketball fan, I haven't really much of a clue about the sport - but I though this was beautifully written.

Thanks for the post
