England captain Kevin Pietersen won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the third One-Day International at the Green Park in Kanpur.
Hazy conditions in Kanpur led to a delay in the start and the game has been reduced to 49 overs per side. Both the teams have made one change each. India have brought Ishant Sharma in place of RP Singh, while England's Graeme Swann comes in for Steve Harmison.
After thumping England in the first two ODIs, India would want to take a 3-0 lead in the seven-match series. England, on the other hand, would be eyeing their maiden win in the series.
Yuvraj Singh, who slammed two consecutive centuries, has been in awe-inspiring form and his captain MS Dhoni has asked him to go for the third. If he manages to strike another hundred today, he will become only the fourth batsmen to have a hat-trick of tons. Zaheer Abbas (Pakistan), Saeed Anwar (Pakistan) and Herchelle Gibbs (South Africa) are other three illustrious batsmen to hold this feat.
The Green Park pitch once again promises to be a batting paradise and the two teams would want to capitalize on that.
