Final Scores in London 2012 Water Polo
- Croatia 8-6 Italy
- Serbia 12-11 Montenegro
- Hungary 14-8 Spain
- Australia 10-9 USA
The USA entered the tournament as a real Gold-Medal contender, but finished last in the finals. Australia had its best finish since Barcelona 1992. Both Australia and the USA are powerhouses in Olympic Women's Water Polo.
For the USA, it was a question of motivation: having been bounced from medal contention after their Quarterfinal loss to Croatia, the Americans had no real reason to keep banging away. Note that the US National Team all skipped the European club season to train as a unit in the months leading up to the Olympics.
