London 2012 unveils mascots

As reported by The Guardian, the London 2012 Olympics now have their own official mascots - Wenlock and Mandeville, apparently fashioned by "drops of steel" from the construction work out in East London. Quite how they grew to be potential one-eyed overlords even scarier than the usual customs officers at Heathrow I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the toxic waste and so on works in ever more unpredictable ways.

As with the London 2012 logo, the design is eliciting strong reactions, mainly negative, with comparisons to Kang and Kodos from The Simpsons and the ConDem alliance of David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

Rumours that PedoBear was on standby for an Olympic comeback could not be confirmed at the time of writing.
