Spectrum Stadium Demolition: November 6 is Looting Day

Comcast-Spectacor is demolishing the Spectrum Stadium, which hosted countless sporting and concert events. Philly sports fans (and looting fans) are able to take part, however.

For $25, you can show up at Spectrum Stadium on November 6 from 9am to noon and spend three hours in the decaying venue... and carry out whatever you can. We're not sure exactly what's left in the stadium besides the chairs, so you'll have to let us know.

Though the venue was host to a private party in January 2010, the Spectrum Stadium officially closed on October 31, 2009 after a series of Pearl Jam shows.

Items available for the “If You Can Carry It, You Can Keep It” event include Spectrum folding chairs, used televisions, some office furniture, couches, computer equipment, and other collectibles. Items are first-come, first-served. Patrons will be allowed to take as much as they can carry (up to four chairs per person) with no re-entry into the arena. Tools and hand carts are prohibited. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.

$25 for four chairs is cheaper than Ikea, actually.

The Demolition process begins on November 8, as the Spectrum is closed off to the public. The Spectrum Stadium is to be replaced by Philly Live, a retail and entertainment real estate project.
