Lorenzen Wright Found Dead in Woods in Southeast Memphis
Missing Memphis Basketball Star Lorenzen Wright Has Been Found Dead in Woods Near Hacks Cross and Winchester
The body found has been confirmed to be that of Lorenzen Wright who has been missing since July 19; police are only calling it a 'death investigation' and are not releasing any more information about how the basketball player died.
The Commercial Appeal reports that someone found the body on Wednesday and called the police.
At the Collierville home of Wright’s ex-wife, Sherra Robinson Wright, white bed sheets covered the windows. A man pulled aside the sheets to answer the doorbell and raised his finger to ask for a moment. Then at 4:15 p.m., sounds of wails and crying rose from inside the house. The man did not return to the door.
Family members have not made a comment but there has been a lot of activity and people coming and going from the Wright home.
Some of the former University of Memphis basketball players, family, and friends have been gathering near the wooded area where Wright's body was found.
Police have been trying to get to the bottom of a 911 hang-up call made from Wright's cellphone on July 19, the day he disappeared. He was last seen leaving his ex-wife's house and it is thought he was carrying some cash when he went missing. He was supposed to be driving back to the Atlanta area July 19 with his six children and a friend.
He had kept up an active Twitter feed but it went quiet on July 19 when he disappeared.
