Mumbai: Sri Lankan star bowler Lasit Maling who is playing for the Mumbai Indians team in the ongoing IPL Tournament has shocked his country’s cricket Board bt announcing that he was retiring from test cricket.

This was the way he wanted to give a fitting reply to the Board which directed him to immediately return home in the middle of this IPL outing to get treatment to his injuries. Malinga has informed the Board of his intention to retire through a letter. He said in his letter that he could no longer play for the tests because of the frequent knee pain and would only be available for one day matches.

Malinga was injured in 2008 dureing his team’s Australian tour. Since then he has been suffering from knee pain. However, he has chosen to participate in the IPL immediately after the World Cup Tourney because of the massive payments. However, the vindictive Lanka Board has directed him to come back half way through to be fit to participate in the fourth coming outings of the team. This would mean that there would be a major cut in his fee in the IPL.

Malinga has explained that he could not play test matches as he would have to bowl 15 overs a day. He has also explained that hehas played test cricket after a gap of 3 years last year and had undergone great pain. He said if he continued to play in tests, his injury would never heal and it may also lead to permanent deformity.

This is one of the question constantly being asked. He is not chucking and, of course, his action is different from others but perfectly legal.
