Manny Pacquiao Sues Floyd Mayweather Jr for False Accusations
Manny Pacquiao filed a lawsuit today suing Floyd Mayweather Jr for false accusations saying that Mayweather and others defamed his name by saying he took performance-enhancing drugs.
The suit was filed in Las Vegas and only further complicates the ability to reach an agreement towards a proposed fight on March 13th. The fight has already been stalled by Mayweather's people by saying tha that both fighters must submit to random blood and urine tests leading up to the fight.
In the suit filed today, Pacquiao said that although he had never taken performance-enhancing drugs, Mayweather and his father and uncle Oscar De La Hoya had launched a campaign to try and prove that he had done otherwise.
"The truth did not stop Mayweather and the others," the suit contends. "That is because they are motivated by ill will, spite, malice, revenge and envy."
Pacquiao's attorney, Dan Petrocelli said his client could stand to lose millions of dollars:
"The damage to his reputation and lost business opportunities could be in the tens of millions of dollars," Petrocelli said.
The suit cites interviews done by Mayweather where he stated that Pacquiao's strenght could not come naturally.
Mayweather and Pacquiao had been expected to meet in what promises to be the richest fight ever after they reached agreement over everything from the size of their purses to the make of their gloves for the welterweight megafight. But a demand by Mayweather's camp for both fighters to be subjected to Olympic-style blood testing has stood in the way of a final agreement for the bout.

Mayweather is just like an empty can that sounds louder. He and his camp thinks that they are above the whole boxing world that they can do anything what they want. Think that they are above the boxing body or any commission. Before they introduce something new in boxing, they should work for the ammendment of all professional boxing rules. Why not they instead fight in the amateur league since they want to introduce olympic rules? They are great thinker, they even surpassed ALI, Sugar Ray, Hagler, etc. or they are just coward to fight. Mayweather always choose to fight small fighter and evade those big guys like Cotto. Is he really unbeatable?
