The Major League Baseball all-star game voting has become a joke with fans of the MLB trying to vote in Lastings Milledge as well as Manny Ramirez to show Bud Selig and baseball how ridiculous the fan balloting system really is.
Manny Ramirez has recently been suspended 50 games by MLB for his steroid use, but fans are still trying to vote Manny into the Midsummer Classic inspite of the fact that Manny will have only played a handful of games and also "cheated." If Ramirez is indeed voted into the All-star game, MLB and also Manny will have to deal with this mess, to play or not to play, that is the question.

The Vote for Manny Campaign has Begun!

I actually think this is a great idea. Bud Selig and the MLB brass ignored the steroids problem for years, despite the fact that it was glaringly obvious, and right in front of their faces. Now, they're trying to act like they're cracking down, but I think we all know that there are still a ton of users out there. They're just craftier now.

Lastings Milledge is also a target of the All-star fan ballot gone awry. With the winner of the all-star game gaining home-field advantage in the World series, many fans of the American League (Boston Red Sox Fans) is coordinating a voting effort to vote in Lastings Milledge of the Washington Nationals into the All-star game.

The problem is, Lastings Milledge is an unproven Major Leaguer who was recently sent down to the minor leagues. This whole voting scheme is to vote in as many Washington National (worst team in baseball) players as possible to create the worst lineup for the National League, hence a victory by the American league, hence home-field advantage in the World Series.

"As good citizens of NatsTown, I think we need to get as many Natinals on the All-Star team as possible.

"Specifically, Lastings Milledge is on the NL All-Star ballot. He needs to make the team. Nothing would be more NatsTown than having the Natinals' (lone?) All-Star game representative be a AAA player for whom the organization has no plan.

The NHL had a similar situation with a VoteForRory campaign where fans almost voted in a non-allstar, Rory Fitzpatrick into the 2007 Allstar Game. The campaign was unsuccessful when the votes "magically" lessened from 285,000 to 58,000 in the last weeks of voting.
