Former world No. 1 tennis player Marat Safin of Russia criticized another tennis superstar Andre Agassi of the United States after Agassi admitted that he used crystal meth during his professional career. Agassi has also admitted to lying to the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) about his drug use. Safin said Agassi should return his titles and the prize money that he has earned over the course of his career.

In an interview to L'Equipe newspaper, Safin said Agassi should return his titles and prize money.

"OK, so he feels guilty? Then he should give back his titles, his money and his Grand Slams!" Safin told French sport daily L'Equipe.
"I'm not defending the ATP, but what he said put it in a delicate position," Safin said. "The ATP allowed him to win a lot of tournaments, a lot of money. It kept his secret. Why does he need to be so cruel with it?"

"If he is as fair play as he says he is, he has to go to the end," Safin said. "You know, the ATP has a bank account and he can give the money back if he wants."

Safin also alluded to the fact that Agassi might be revealing the hidden facts of his life now to attract more attention to his book.
The question is: why has he done that? What's done is done. He wants to sell more books? That's completely stupid.

Safin said he would himself retire after this year's season is over.

Only if he used meth during the competition. Recreational use may be illegal but didn't effect his game in a positive sense.
