The Marine Corps Marathon 2009 took place in Arlington, VA. The 34th annual Marine Corps Marathon was won by John Mentzer. The Navy lieutenant commander in the Navy completed the 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon route in two hours 21 minutes 47 seconds.
Second place went to Air Force Capt. Jacob Johnson.
The first woman to finish the 2009 Marine Corps Marathon who had a time 2 hours 49 minutes and 48 seconds. Second place went to Capt. Jaymee Marty who followed 25 seconds behind.
