Free- Agent outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. is returning to the Seattle Mariners. Late Wednesday night they reached an agreement that will have Griffey in Seattle for a one year $2 million contract.

Griffey currently ranks fifth all-time with 611 home runs. He is a .288 hitter with 1,772 RBIs, 1,612 runs and 184 stolen bases in 2,521 games over 20 MLB season for the Mariners, Reds and White Sox.

Griffey joined the majors at the age of 19 and on April 10th, 1989 became the youngest player to hit a home run when he slugged the first pitch thrown at him in Seattle's Kingdome into the seats.

Interesting to see him reneg on Atlanta... but Seattle's a good home for him. Let's hope he's among the 12 remaining players in baseball who hasn't dabbled w/ steroids...

Griffey is a stand up player, and I am almost certain he's steered clear of steroids. He, like his father, is in it for the love of the game.
