Marshawn Lynch Earthquake: Did Lynch Touchdown Run Cause Quake?
Marshawn Lynch Is a Beast. So Much So That He May Have Triggered an Earthquake. Here is Info on the 'Marshawn Lynch Earthquake'
Marshawn Lynch's touchdown run during the NFL Wild Card game on Sunday, January 9, 2011 got fans at Qwest Field going crazy. Just how crazy? One local seismologist recorded a small earthquake at the time Lynch beat several Saints defenders to score a 67-yard touchdown.
According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, which is located right next to Qwest Field, the noise generated by crazed Seahawks fans after the Marshawn Lynch run created a blip on their seismograph.
John Vidale, director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, said he thought of looking at the seismograph after watching YouTube video of the touchdown and noticed how the stadium shook.
Of course, it should be noted that the Marshawn Lynch earthquake was recorded by just one station and it happened to be across the street from the stadium. Still it's an impressive feat.
For the record, Deadspin has a piece that debunks the Marshawn Lynch earthquake story.
The Marshawn Lynch touchdown has also inspired Nintendo tributes.
