I Am Second - Colt McCoy

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy picked up the prestigous Maxwell Award tonight as the best all-around college football player in the USA at the college football Awards in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Besides the Maxwell Award, Colt McCoy is also in the running for the Heisman Trophy. With the Maxwell nod, McCoy beat out fellow Heisman candidates Tim Tebow of Florida and Mark Ingram of Alabama.

“To win awards like this shows that you’re greatly respected,” McCoy said. “It means people see the things that you do, and you’re rewarded for them.”

Colt McCoy accepted the award at the College Football Awards at Disney World in Florida. Earlier he won the Davey O'Brien Award as the nation's best quarterback.

McCoy threw for 3,512 yard and 27 touchdowns and his Texas Longhorns went 13-0 this season and will face off against Alabama on January 7.

Also,  Mark Herzlich, a linebacker with Boston College won the Disney Spirit Award which is given to college's footballs most inspiration player. Herzlich did not play this seaosn for Boston College fighting and overcoming a rare form of bone cancer. Mark Herzlich is expected to return next season.
