Herrera paces Mayfield girls

Junior Mia Herrera finished second with a time of 21:35 at the Cobre Cross Country Invite on Saturday to lead the Mayfield High girls time. Brianne Turner was 22nd as the Trojans finished fifth.

The boys team was second and was led by Jacob Viramontes with a time of 18:46, good for fourth place. Zack Enriquez was 10th with a time of 19:13 and Kenny Paz was 17th with a time of 20:18.

The Cobre course was easily the most difficult one the Mayfield team has encountered. It was steep and rocky with an uphill climb just before the finish.
