Mayor Rawlings-Blake Inspired "Rally O's Wednesday" in Baltimore
April 11, 2013- "Rally O's Wednesday" the Orioles version of the Baltimore Ravens Purple Friday was inspired by City of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake says Derrick E. Vaughan of Dunkadelic Sports Marketing.
When the Baltimore Orioles were in the MLB playoffs last season after a 15-year absence vs. the New York Yankees Mayor Blake called for an Orioles rally on Wednesday October 10, 2012 to show community support for the team (exactly 6 months ago today).
The series was tied 1-1 with games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) to be played in New York.
"Credit has to go where its deserved. When we were creating the Rally O's Wednesday concept the Mayor's rally from last-season didn't come into play. Wednesday being the middle day of the week seemed to be a great day for an O's rally day during the season. Looking back 6 months later from October 2012 the Mayor held the first official Rally O's Wednesday and she deserves that recognition. It's a matter of respect, Vaughan continues."
Today marks the 2nd Rally O's Wednesday (at Boston Red Sox) on the season. The Orioles need a little cheering and fan support. They are riding a 3-game slide.
The Orioles will celebrate their first home game Rally O's Wednesday on April 17th when the face the Tampa Bay Rays.
