Fight Fever Hits Hatton vs Mayweather

It’s not as though people are completely off-their-rocker for hoping, wishing  and predicting a close fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton but there does seem to be a certain mystique following this fight that makes one think crazy thoughts.

Sure, this fight fits snuggly with many of the popular nomenclatures that accompany over hyped fights. An American vs. a Brit. A “pretty boy” vs. a face fit for a mother to love. Goliath, meet David.

No, this fight exceeds all of these labels and straight to the heart of every classic; undefeated vs. undefeated with a title on the line. A combined 81-0 record with 55 KOs. Yes, after Saturday night perfection will be a past memory for one fighter, while another will establish himself as the best in the Welterweight biz.

What to think of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Right Now

Floyd is possibly the most skilled and smartest boxer in a generation. He is quick, disciplined, has a solid chin and great defense. His biggest problem is he is now old enough (30) to have established those credentials. One could argue that his age is showing because it is. His punch output is slowly dropping and his bum left hand could break during a fight. Yes, he is still winning but it increasingly has more to do with his “smarts” rather than physical domination. Not since Auturo Gatti has Mayweather come out and dominated like the man we once knew and loved to watch.

What to think of Ricky Hatton Right Now

Ricky is from the ghetto’s of Manchester, England. Like a Tasmanian Devil he is tenacious, active, can take or give hard punches and is always in hot pursuit for action. Also, he is said to walk around at 180 pounds and slowly drops weight before fights. This makes him very strong, probably the strongest of the weight class.

The problem for him is he has no regard for pain or the beauty of his face. He puts himself in harms way, like a human punching bag. This could spell doom against a precision fighter like Floyd Mayweather.

Bottom Line

Mayweather will him more than he gets hit, but how will he respond when he gets hit because he will get him. Got it?

Seriously, with the style that Hatton brings, he will force action. It is hard for me to imagine either fighter walking out of the ring without some blood and bruises.

Hatton especially will take shots and Mayweather will have to sustain constant banging around by Hatton. Hatton is a bruiser who will force his will upon you. Mayweather should be fully prepared to go the full 12 rounds with Hatton and I’d be shocked if it goes any other way.

In saying that, I think Mayweather will win. It’s hard to imagine Mayweather losing on the cards. The thing about Hatton, though, is he has the strength and endurance to knock you out at any time. For these reasons, the pay-per-view and ringside audiences should be entertained throughout.

Boxing is ready for a classic and both fighters will be ready to deliver.

Joe Hachem, I'm not a huge boxing fan... but Mayweather is the only one out there right who seems to  makes boxing anywhere close to an art. Good Outline of the two boxers and bottom line, Thanks.
