Melky Cabrera hit for the cycle in the New York Yankees 8-5 Win over the Chicago White Sox. The center fielder also drove in four runs.

So what exactly does it mean to hit for the cycle in baseball? Hitting for the baseball cycle means having one least one single, double, triple, and home run in the same game.

Cabrera hit a three-run homer, a run-scoring single in the fifth, a double in the fourth, and a triple in the ninth. Cabrera got most of his hits off of White Sox ace Mark Buehrle, who made history last week after pitching a perfect game.

Melky Cabrera became the first Yankee to hit for the cycle in 14 years. The last New York Yankee to accomplish the feat was Tony Fernandez back in 1995.

Cabrera is the fifth player to hit for the cycle this season. The others were Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel of Minnesota, Ian Kinsler of Texas, and Orlando Hudson of the Angels.
