Metrodome Collapse Video, Photos: When Do Vikings Play Giants?
The Metrodome collapse has wreaked havoc to the NFL schedule. Here are some Metrodome roof collapse photos and video
The roof of the Metrodome, home of the Minnesota Vikings, collapsed due to heavy snowfall. The inflatable roof sank and was not visible from the ground after two triangle-shaped Teflon panels suffered damage in the harsh winter weather. Prior to the Metrodome roof collapse, the Minnesota Vikings announced that today's game against the New York Giants was to be postponed one day due to a blizzard that hit the Midwest. The snow left the New York Giants stranded at Kansas City International Airport on Saturday.
So when will the New York Giants play the Minnesota Vikings?
Well, the Vikings vs Giants game was supposed to take place Monday, Dec. 13. However, the Metrodome collapse could have delayed the game further. An NFL spokesperson said that the Metrodome collapse means that the stadium will not be available Monday night. That doesn't necessarily mean that the Giants vs Vikings game could still be played.
"We were notified this morning by the Metrodome authorities that the dome will not be available for the Giants-Vikings game on Monday or Tuesday," the NFL's Greg Aiello said in a statement. "We are currently exploring alternatives to play the game Monday night at the University of Minnesota stadium or another domed NFL stadium. We will continue provide information as it becomes available."
Update NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello confirmed on Twitter that the Vikings vs Giants game will be played on Monday, Dec. 13 in Detroit: "Confirming Giants-Vikings game will be played Monday night at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff will be at 7:20 ET."
Here is some Metrodome collapse photos and Metrodome collapse video. Here is a great Metrodome roof collapse pic taken from inside the stadium.
