Update:

“ he is a champion because he is now with Christ ” expressed  Marco Antonio Nazareth´s father at the last good-bye given to the fighter by around 150 persons yesterday around 11 am after the body arrived to Zapopan Jalisco.

Marco Antonio Nazareth 23 died after induced coma due to brain injury from the blows received during his fight with the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez.

A tragic end to such young life. Family, friends, fans and Mexican boxing community  mourn his death.

  May he rest in Peace

Marco Antonio Nazareth died Wednesday at a hospital in Puerto Vallarta, where he had arrived some days before after he suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage during the fight against Omar Chavez, Julio Cesar Chavez's son.

The 23-year-old boxer's health worsened after doctors performed a surgery that did not produced the expected results as surgeons could not control blood flows.

Nazareth suffered from cerebral hemorrhage during last Saturday's fight against Omar Chavez, in which he was defeated in the fourth round by knock out.

Mexican boxer Omar Chavez age 19 and son of former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez said he was ¨confused and sad¨ following  Marco Antonio Nazareth´s death after beating him in combat.

¨I´m very sorry, I prayed for him, I feel bad, confused and with many questions¨

It's time for this family to get real rivals, I think that the boxin people just want's to kiss Julio Cesar Chavez ass.. I've seen Julio Cesar Chavez JR ass getting kicked a couple of times but still he win's.. that's a bunch of BS I hate the Chavez family. I dont have more words to describe what I feel I'm just so dissapointed.

I think you're a little harsh on the family. If there is anybody to blame it would be the people who continue to make and/or made mass amount of money out of them. Those people are the true disease in sports.

what a tragedy-- two young lives changed forever.  May Marco RIP and may Omar Chavez get some therapy.  I don't see how one can deal with this type of situation even if it is part of the sport.

I agree with TonyG, you can't blame the Chavez's for what the promoters do.  That said, I don't think Chavez Jr. is "boxing material", but Omar is.

Maybe Omar was boxing material , this has to be hard to deal with;knowing someone died because of you has to be a very hard thing to deal with!!

The problem is the referees @ most times. I think he got hit to much. Yes they have been getting boxers that arent really that good for Jr. I didnt even know about this younger brother. I really dont even follow Jrs career at all. They are just trying to build a good record. Hell if i was given the oppurtunity of just getting in their for 1K id do it and i know i could whoop his ass, no joke. I feel very bad for the family, somebody should of stepped in.

Julio Cesar Chavez has these two pussy sons of his so spoiled he's afraid to match them up with real competitors. Whats really sickening is how blind people are thinking these two punk asses are great fighters. They suck. Chavez is gonna keep on cashing in on this circus until people realize and get bored of these shitty fights or till chavez runs out of poor out of the street shoe shiners who are willing to risk their lifes for a little food money fighting these punk asses.

I can't agree with you more. I was a fan of their dad, Julio Sr., but since I've seen his son's opponent's records, you can kiss that goodbye. When I saw the other son fighting someone with a losing record I remarked that it shouldn't be allowed. When I saw Nazareth's record before the fight, I told others watching that Nazareth had too little experience (although he did seem to have potential) and that all who were sanctioning the fight should be held criminally responsible if something were to happen....then it happened. If I were his parents I'd sue the promoter's ass, Julio Sr.'s ass, and the governing body who sanctioned the fight. Although I feel bad for their son's death, what were the parents thinking? And to all who who say it was a terrible accident of the game, wise up!

Ok tough guy lets see you get in the ring with any Chavez member and see what happens. his sons are just following in their fathers footsteps, and not everyone wants to be a garbage man like you and your dad.

First of all Julio Cesar Chavez is a great warrior who deserves respect. Boxing is a sport and you really can't balme anyone.May you rest in peace Marco Nazareth.

this is a sad sick sport people pay money to see other humans fight and hurt them selfs but do they ever thing about the concequences of this sport or the family of each boxer.  We live in a messed up world with crazy people around us killers and rapist and we say that something is wrong with there brain what do you think is wrong with us when we feel joy when a person gets beat up and looses in a fight.  the law bands dog fights but they let humans destroy each other in other words dogs are worth more than humans we protect them but we dont band human fights its a power thing or maybe is a way of letting the human race destroy it self just like gangs and drive by shootings, we dont need evil we do it all ourselves.

my prayer go to his family, at least were he is going he wont be hurt again

Indeed his father is a great warrior. Both these young men knew of the consequences before they  stepping into the ring. Marco Antonio died doing what he loved, I'm sure not many of you can say you will die doing what you love. Boxing is just a sport - no one is suppose to die and if you think that boxing should be banned then you should probrably start with wars, corrupt politicians, world hunger and poverty. Rest in peace Marco
