Despite receiving a three month suspension from USA Swimming, Michael Phelps is maintaining his normal training schedule in preparation for the World Championships in Rome this summer. Although he has experienced some backlash from his sponsors he feels that the punishment fits the crime.

"It's not my decision. It's theirs," Phelps said of USA Swimming's decision. "I have nothing to say, but if that's they want to do, that's their choice. It's something that USA Swimming came up with. It's fair. Obviously, for a mistake you should get punished."

The picture of Phelps smoking marijuana from a bong is not his first public slip up but definitely the most damaging to his character. In 2004 an underage Phelps was arrested for drinking and driving three months after the Athens Olympics. He apologized to his fans and said that it wouldn't happen again. Just over four years later he finds himself back in the spotlight.

The USA team will be chosen this July in Indianapolis during the national championship.
