In a case of life imitating art imitating life, actor Mickey Rourke is in talks with the WWE after playing Randy "The Ram" Robinson in the film The Wrestler, a character loosely based on several former WWE wrestlers.

Rourke has already won a Golden Globe for his job in "The Wrestler" and is among the favorites to win the Best Actor Oscar.

Prior to last night's SAG Awards, Rourke disclosed that he will be participating in Wrestlemania 25 in Houston on April 5. Rourke added that he is talking to WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper about it.

Rourke may be taking part in the event as a way to pay back the wrestling for their help and support. Rourke met with several pro wrestlers to research his role.

“The nicest thing has been the whole wrestling community embracing us,” Rourke said on the red carpet. “The movie was about their world.”

Like an old wrestling pro, Rourke even trashed talk WWE star Chris Jericho, perhaps setting up a possible Rourke vs. Jericho matchup.

“Chris Jericho, you better get in shape,” Rourke added. “Because I’m coming after your a**.”

In response, the WWE superstar calls out Rourke.

Jericho, appearing on WWE television, said, “You are out of line. It’s one thing to play a wrestler in a movie, something entirely different to actually be one. Your comments offended me. You made a mistake. It’s the last thing that you and Ric Flair want to do, and that’s offend Chris Jericho.””

Mickey has a lot of guts. He has had a hard road in the entertainment business including going into boxing for awhile. I wish him well with this whole awards thing but in any case he has proved himself with this performance.

I would personally love to see Mickey Rourke beat the living crap out of Chris Jericho, even if Wrestling is fake. God knows Jericho has a collossal ass-whupping coming to his egomaniacal self!

He should think first.  Those wrestlers are big and even other wrestlers get hurt occasionally.
