Fat Little Girlfriend - Mike Leach

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach raised a few eyebrows when referring to his players and their fat little girlfriends. Mike Leach made the fat little girlfriends remark after his team was upset by Texas A&M over the weekend.

So what did Mike Leach say about 'fat little girlfriends'?

“As coaches, we failed to make our coaching points more compelling than (the players’) fat little girlfriends,’’ Leach said. “Fat little girlfriends have some obvious advantages. For one thing, their fat little girlfriends are telling them what they want to hear, which is how great you are and how easy it’s going to be.’’

The Fat Little Girlfriends comment likely stemmed from the fact that the team seemed to reacting to the team perhaps believing its own hype. The Mike Leach quote likely wasn't intended as a personal attack against the players' girlfriends.

“We had a bunch of people who wanted to win the football game, but nobody really wanted to play in the football game,” Leach said. “That defies every level of work ethic that exists in regard to football.”

Mike Leach has been known for making the occasional off-the-cuff quote. For instance, Leach did a TV interview where he passed on a few dating tips, ones that he may pass on to his players so they can ditch their fat little girlfriends.

Thank you Coach Leach for assuring us that the loss to Texas A&M was due soley to the player's "fat little girlfriends" and clearly not to YOUR  lack of coaching/motivational ability.
