Motorbike rider found dead in Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally that for the first time in it's history takes place outside of Africa, has had the first death in this year.
The French motorcyclist Pascal Terry 49 years old from Normandy, has been found death today about 50 feet from his motorbike, without helmet and with food and water beside him.
Terry communicated race organizers that he had run out of gas on Sunday although he managed to get some gas from another rider. Later on the day Terry sent a rescue alert and a search was launched.
Las Pampas regional police is investigating the death and there is not more information for the moment.
Dakar Rally is held in South America this year, starting in Chile and finishing in Buenos Aires (Argentina) next January 18th. Dakar rally was forced to be moved outside of Africa due the continuous terrorist threats.
