Murray State guard Danero Thomas hit a buzzer beater to beat Vanderbilt 66-65. The Danero Thomas buzzer beater marked the second upset of 2010 March Madness and Murray State's second win in NCAA history.
B.J. Jenkins scored 14 points in the Murray State win, but everyone is talking about the Danero Thomas buzzer beater. With less than five seconds left, Murray State inbounded the ball from the baseline. Isacc Miles dribbled the ball then passed it to Thomas at the top of three-point arc. He dribbled in and hit a soft jumper with no time left on the clock.
Murray State had played hard all game. The Racers built a 36-32 lead at halftime, after hitting four of eight three-pointers.
The last time they was a tourney game was back in 1988, when they defeated North Carolina State. They hadn't competed in March Madness since 2006.
The Murray State buzzer beater marks the second upset of the tournament. Earlier in the day, #11 Old Dominion defeated #6 Notre Dame by a score of 51-50.
During early March Madness action, four games were decided by a total of 12 points. Two of those games went to overtime.
