Florida State defensive back Myron Rolle has decided not enter the 2009 NFL draft in order to study medical anthropology at Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship.

Rolle would have likely been a second round pick in this year's NFL Draft. Instead, he chose to accept a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. At Oxford, Rolle is expected to complete a one-year master’s degree in medical anthropology.

Rolle has always been an outstanding student-athlete. He graduated high school early and finished his bachelor's degree at Florida State in just two-and-a-half years and is working on a master's degree there. Since Rolle graduated early, he had the option of entering the draft this year, but chose instead to head to Oxford.

Rolle isn't the first athlete to becomea Rhodes Scholar. In 1965, Bill Bradley decided to forgo the NBA Draft to study at Oxford. Bradley later went to a storied basketball career, winning two NBA championships with the New York Knicks. He later became a senator for New Jersey. In 2000, Bradley ran for the Democratic nomination for President.
