Persevering through days of high temperatures that do not let up, Rafeal Nadal held strong and moved to the next round even with temps of 40 degrees C./104 degrees F. Nadal has played well throughout the Open having both daytime and evening matches.

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal advanced to the Australian Open semifinals with a 6-2, 7-5, 7-5 win over sixth-seeded Gilles Simon of France on Wednesday.

The roof was kept closed for this match after closing earlier during Serena Williams' match.

Nadal takes on fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in a semifinal Friday.

I would love to see that be the pairing at the finals also.
