Nadal v Federer coin toss, BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells 2013

After being a set and a service break down and an injured knee with a seven month hiatus from competition, Nadal came back with a ferocity of spirit to overcome.  Indian Wells was expected to be more of an opening round for Rafa. Then it began. He beat number 2 ranked, Roger Federer, in the quarterfinals,  Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic in the semifinalsand then was on to play Del Potro. The  day before the Argentine player had ousted No. 1 Novak Djokovic. To the surprise of most, icluding Nadal himself, when the game was over Rafa had outplayed Juan Martin del Potro by 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. His emotion was evident in his response, as he fell to the ground in his excitement of the moment. His doctors have advised him to rest his knee and skip Miami. Much more to come as he climbs back up headed to the  number 1 slot.
