The BCHL Nanaimo Clippers ended their playoff hopes Tuesday night with a 2/5 defeat at the hands of the Alberni Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs took the best of seven, but not without a hard fought battle.  The shots on goals were pretty much even with over 30 shots by each team.

The Nanaimo Clippers scored early in the first period and it looked at if the Alberni Bulldogs were going to be held scoreless, but the big dogs scored before the end of the first period.  They came back to stretch their lead by 2.  An empty net goal in the dying seconds of the game put an end to the Clippers playoff hopes for this season.

Over a thousand hockey fans attended the game with a sizable contingent from the Alberni Valley.  They went home happy and will be cheering on the Alberni Bulldogs as they reach for the BC championship.  Nanaimo fans will have to dream about next season.

This game will see the end of the junior hockey careers for some of the Nanaimo Clippers.  The maximum age for the juniors is 20 and some have reached that.  Some players will be going on to college on scholarship.  Others will be trying out for professional spots.
