Nanaimo Clippers Lose to Cowichan Capitals
Friday night saw the loyal Clipper fans witnessing another groaner as the Clippers gave up a 1/2 win to the Cowichan Capitals. The Clippers scored early in the first period but gave up a goal to tie it. The game was hard hitting and drew many penalties on both sides. At one point, the Clippers had a two man advantage for over a minute but couldn't get more than one shot on goal -- and that didn't go in.
While many decry fighting in hockey, it would seem that it's here to stay. The loudest reaction and clapping occurred while two players were slugging it out.(video). These teams have met numerous times during the season and will meet again before the end of it.
The Clippers play tonight in Alberni against the Bulldogs and return to Nanaimo to play Sunday afternoon against the Victoria Grizzlies who hold top spot in the Island Division.
