Nanaimo Clippers Win 7/2 Against Alberni Bulldogs
BCHL Nanaimo Clippers chalked up a much needed win against the Alberni Bulldogs Friday night with a 7/2 score. The Clippers drew first blood early in the first period but the big dogs bit back quickly with a goal and one more to take the lead 2/1. After that the Clippers settled down and took back the lead, never looking back. The Alberni goaltender stopped 24 shots on goal, Nanimo 15.
Tempers flared during the hardhitting play with a couple of short fights. Towards the end of the game, two players were ejected for fighting. Generally, though, players stuck to the business of playing hockey.
The Clippers remain in third spot in the Island Division, chasing the Cowichan Capitals as the season winds down to the playoffs.
The Cowichan Capitals and the Nanaimo Clippers meet again at the Frank Crane Arena on Friday, February 13.
