Jeremy Mayfield has been suspended indefinitely by Nascar after he failed a drug test taken at the Richmond International Raceway.
Nascar has implemented a tougher drug testing policy after Aaron Fike admitted he had been taking heroin even on the days he raced. The new test has all racers tested before the season with random testings conducted throughout the season.
Any driver who fails a drug test is subject to an indefinite suspension, which would be a first for NASCAR's top series.
Nascar will be suspending a driver who has failed a drug test taken last weekend at the race in Richmond Virginia. The Sprint Cup Series Driver has violated the Nascar substance abuse policy and will not compete in the race at Darlington. A news conference scheduled at 6pm ET is in place to discuss the issue and the driver.
